RN Tri Warm Weather Training Camp

Warm Weather Training Camp 06-13 May 2010 – Club La Santa.  The funding has now been approved for the Warm Weather Training Camp 06 – 13 May 2010.  It will be held at the Club La Santa, Lanzarote.  There are only 12 places (3 female 9 male) available and it will be first come first served basis.  The total individual cost will be £150 (yeah that’s all!) this will include flights/transfers and half board accom.  You must be a current association member and in the sports lottery.If you wish to go please email mark.goodridge912@mod.uk and he will send you all the details of where to send the cheque.

Saturday 27th Feb 2010

0815 - 0825hrs Meet up - Gym - All swimming kit, Drinks Bottle - Meet in the foyer of the gym

0825 - 1000hrs - Swim Pool - All swimming kit, floats, water bottles, fins

1000 - 1130hrs - Travel to Merryfield/ Break Merryfield/ All to be self sufficient with spares / Turbo Trainer wet weather alternative. Use this time to eat and drink before you get to Meeryfield

1130 - 1230hrs - Bike drills Merryfield

1230 -1330hrs - 3 up TT Merryfield

1330 -1400hrs - Break / Talk on clothing Portacabin at Merryfield

1400-1445hrs - Group Ride Meryfield

1445 -1600hrs - Run off the bike 4 / 6 miles Merryfield Run kit ready for run off the bike

1615hrs - 1645hrs - Q & A's Portacabin

The Objectives for each of the Weekends are as follows:

The first weekend is geared towards the following:

1.    Getting as many people together to try and build up a cohesion between members to try and build the numbers up throughout the weekends and year ahead.

2.    Swimming sessions to identify where individuals are with in their training. 

3.    To promote more drill specific sessions and control of the stroke by slowing their swimming stroke down, to enable them to go faster.

4.    To refresh and also introduce (new members) in group riding skills and cycling drills

5.    Bike maintenance with an emphasis on winter bike maintenance

6.    Running drills and understanding of interval sessions

7.    Planning the years training and races.

The second weekend will be:

1.    Training together i.e Longer runs in groups. longer bike rides together

2.    Fartlek training / Track session

3.    More race specific swimming sessions i.e for standard distance Triathletes should be swimming at least 3 - 4k sets sprint distance Triathletes should be swimming at least 2-3k sets

4.    Injury prevention and treatment

The third weekend will be geared towards:

1.    Testing in swimming cycling and some running

2.    Confirmation of training programmes and races that individuals should be aiming for.

Swim/Bike/Run training sessions in your local area:

bulletBath Area: Every Tuesday evening 1900-2000
Lane swimming at Springfield Leisure Centre, Corsham, Wilts
Free swim on production of an ID card (though I've never had to show mine once in the last 9 years), just sign in at reception.
Family swim taking place at the same time, but the staff will put in extra swim lanes as required as soon as more than 6 people swimming in a lane at any time.

bulletBath Bristol Area: Tuesday evenings 1730 till dusk (between March and October i.e after the clock change to BST).
Cycling at Castle Coombe motor racing circuit, Castle Coombe, Chippenham, Wilts.  Cost £1 on entry via back gate (organised by my Club Chippenham Wheelers, but open to anyone).  2 mile traffic free circuit, and the opportunity to train with any "similar
ability" cyclists. Very popular session attended by all standards, pick a group and hang on!
